‘Pilot of Southwest Airline Broadcasts Anti-gay Rant
A pilot has been suspended after broadcasting a slur-filled rant about flight attendants over an air-traffic control frequency that stopped controllers from contacting other aircraft. The pilot launched into a swear laced tirade about gay, overweight and older flight attendants on a flight passing over Houston, Texas.
When asked about how Southwest had decided to suspend and submit the pilot to diversity training, then send him back to work for the airline, spokeswoman Brandy King said: “That is an internal issue that we’ve dealt with directly with that employee, and we don’t discuss employee matters publicly.”’
This is absolutely horrifying. The only hopeful glimmer of this recorded tirade are the reactions of the air traffic controller and the other pilots in the air at that time, who are notably embarrassed and shocked by this pilot’s foul sentiment.
