Hundreds of Bolivians gathered outside US embassies today to protest the decades-old UN drugs treaty ban on coca-chewing. Maintaining the leaf’s medicinal and cultural value, these protestors support an amendment to the ban, but the US promises to veto any such amendment for fear of aggravating the cocaine drug trade.
